A 24-hour telephone and TTY crisis line for women in the province of Ontario.  We also speak to friends and family members of abused women, service providers and other professionals in contact with abused women.

The Woman Abuse Council of Toronto

The Woman Abuse Council of Toronto (WACT) was launched in 1991 to develop a coordinated community response to woman abuse in Toronto. The Council is a policy development and planning body that coordinates an efficient and effective approach to providing services for assaulted women and their families. The 30 person general council is made up of senior level representatives of each of the key sectors in the community response to woman abuse.

Metroplitan Action Committee on Violence Against Women and Children

METRAC is a not-for-profit, community-based organization that works to ensure women, youth, and children live free from all forms of violence and the threat or fear of violence. Neighbours, Friends and Families is a public education campaign to raise awareness of the signs of woman abuse so that those close to an at-risk woman or an abusive man can help.

The Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women and Children

The Centre promotes the development of community-centred, action research on violence against women and children. The Centre's role is to facilitate the cooperation of individuals, groups and institutions representing the diversity of the community to pursue research questions and training opportunities to understand and prevent abuse. It serves local, national and international communities by producing useful information and tools to assist in the daily work against violence toward women and children.

The Centre for Children and Families in the Justice System

The Centre for Children and Families in the Justice System (formerly the London Family Court Clinic) is a non-profit social service agency helping children and families involved with the justice system as victims of crime, witnesses of crime, parties in custody disputes, subjects of child protection proceedings, litigants in civil suits for compensation, teenagers in therapeutic care settings, or youthful offenders. We are known around the world for our innovative approach to understanding children exposed to domestic violence, supporting their mothers, and creating resources for service deliverers.

By providing alternatives to men who want to engage in stopping further abuses to their families, the community  is taking an active stand against woman abuse, and all of the attendant social repercussions.
